Project overview

This website was built as an updated personal portfolio for potential clients and recruiters. Its main purpose is credibility: showing what I build, how I work, and what kind of projects I can contribute to.

The site brings together a curated selection of projects, testimonials, tools, and knowledge in one clear place. That makes it both a digital business card and a practical entry point for new freelance work or longer-term opportunities.

Collaboration

I developed the site independently, but used feedback from designer colleagues to refine the visual hierarchy, typography, and overall presentation. That helped turn it into more than a technical showcase and made it easier to understand for non-technical visitors as well.

Technical implementation

  • Built with Astro as a new foundation, mainly to create a modern, maintainable portfolio while also learning the framework in practice.
  • The content structure is modular, so projects, testimonials, and knowledge blocks can be expanded without rebuilding the whole site.
  • The visual layer uses Tailwind CSS and custom design choices to keep the presentation consistent while staying easy to evolve.
  • Some content was migrated from the older portfolio, but most of the structure and presentation was rebuilt from the ground up.

Challenges

  • The main challenge was refactoring an older portfolio onto a cleaner technical foundation without ending up with another collection of disconnected pages.
  • The site had to work as both an Astro learning project and a portfolio that still felt credible for real visitors.
  • Because the goal was visibility and trust, the content needed to stay understandable and focused on relevance rather than becoming overly technical.

Result

The result is a refreshed portfolio website that better reflects my current level, focus, and type of work. Visitors can understand my projects, skills, and profile more quickly, while the underlying setup gives me a more flexible base to keep improving.

That makes the site more than a showcase of past work. It is also a practical platform for continued learning, iteration, and building online visibility.

Reflection

This project was especially valuable as a combination of refactor, positioning, and learning by building. It gave me a portfolio that better matches where I am now, while also helping me gain hands-on experience with Astro for future projects.
